Author Guidelines

This section provides answer only the question "How to prepare manuscript for submission?" and details on the submission process. For other details like word limits and what is expected in the section, please read Section Policy and review policies.

General guidelines:

  1. Main submission file accepted in Microsoft Word, RTF, ODT formats.
  2.  British English (ex: colour not color; paediatrics not pediatrics).
  3. Numbers to be expressed in Lakhs and Crores (not millions and billions).
  4. Line spacing 1.
  5. Font: Times New Roman.
  6. Font style:
    • Content: size 12;
    • Headings: size 14, bold;
    • Points of emphasis: italics.
    • DONOT underline unless it is a link.
  7. Place tables and images where relevant and not at the end.
  8. Each table and image should have a proper title, numbered serially and with proper captions where needed.
  9. No limit for number of tables, but keep it to bare minimum possible. If tables can be clubbed together, please do.
  10. Comma and other punctuation should have space after it, not before.
  11. Vancouver style of quoting reference should be strictly followed. A website link should accompany a reference whenever available.
  12. Let us know how ethical concerns in studies were addressed.
  13. Do not use identifying features of individuals unless necessary, and please do so with permission.

Submission process: (In detail)

  • Register in the website (make sure you have registered as author in the registration process else change it in "my profile") and log in.
  • Go to User Home > Author > and Start a New Submission.

    2. Start.
      • Select which section you want to submit manuscript.
      • Go through the author fee details.
      • Check all boxes of submission checklist. (As confirmation that you have read and followed this guide)
      • Accept the copyright information of the journal.
      • Add comments to the editor if any, use it judiciously and may be of great help, else leave blank.(donot request fee waiver here, that is to be done in step 5)
      • Save and continue will take you to the next step.
    3. Step 2: Upload the submission.
      • Should include Title, abstract and references along with other content. (Popularly called the article file in most journals.)
      • Make sure it does not include any identifying factors.
      • If submission is for News section, please leave do not upload anything here.
      • Save and continue will take you to the next step.
    4. Step 3: Enter metadata.
      • Author name: Submitting author’s details will already be filed. Add more authors by clicking the button to add more. You can re-arrange the order of authors using arrow keys below each author. Affiliation is institute (ex: Rajarajeshwari Medical College, Bangalore.) and designation is the authors department and rank. (Ex: Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine). E-mail of all authors is mandatory.
      • Enter title and abstract in their boxes.
      • Enter contributors and supporting agencies if relevant.
      • Copy paste your entire list of numbered references written in Vancouver style again here. (The same list that is in your submission file.)
      • Save and continue will take you to the next step.
    5. Step 4: Supplementary files.
      • Upload files that are relevant for review and need not be published.
      • Data collecting instrument can be uploaded here.
      • References for News section (see below) have to be uploaded here.
    6. Step 5: Follow on screen instructions and click on “submit manuscript”.
  • You will recieve a submission confirmation e-mail with link to authorship contribution and conditional copyright transfer form. Please complete it and mail it the editorial e-mail. (Download the file here if your e-mail doesn't support it)

Editorials

Please read section policies and follow the general guidelines above. The only change is that you do not need to submit an abstract in step 3 during submission.

News articles, Happenings

Follow general guidelines as specified above.

Make sure you have read what is expected in the section policy and what happens to the submission during review.

  1. Complete step 1 of the 5-step submission process, if you have crossed 300 words, enter the reason in comments to the editor.
  2. Do not upload article file in step 2.
  3. In step 3, enter your particulars, title and paste your submission (it is limited to 600 words) in the abstract section. The numbered references are to be inserted in Vancouver style in the "references" box below it.
  4. In step 4, upload the soft copy of all references you have used for consideration of the editors.
  5. In step 5, request for waiver of fees quoting that this article is submitted for News section.

Original Research Article, Short Communications, Review Article

Make sure you have read what is expected in the section policy and what happens to the submission during review.

Please follow the general guidelines above; it had being written considering this section as a template.

Perspectives, Series

Please read section policy and review policy for this section and follow the general guidelines above.

The only change is that you do not need to submit an abstract in step 3 during submission.

Letter to the Editor

Please read section policy for this section and follow the general guidelines above.

The two changes are that you do not need to submit an abstract in step 3 during submission and in step 5, request for waiver of fees quoting that this article is submitted for Letter to the Editor section.

You do not need to submit an abstract in step 3 during submission. Upload high quality photographs in step 4 without fail if relevant.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The general guidelines for submission to "Annals of Community Health" listed in the Author Guidelines has been followed.
  3. The Section policy has been read and this submission is according adheres to the guidelines.
  4. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  5. The text is single-spaced; uses Times New Roman 12-point font; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
 

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors handover the copyright of all the materials accepted for publication to the Journal (Annals of Community Health)
  2. Authors also grant the journal right of first publication with the work.
  3. Authors are allowed to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  4. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

2. Material(s) in the website and those of print journal not attributed to any author or belonging to OJS by PKP should be attributed to "The editorial team, Annals of Community Health".

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Solicited submissions and submissions in other sections do not solicit a fee and soft copy of author copies will be sent to the contributor.

Mode of payment will be communicated to you by mail on acceptance of article.

Hard copy (Optional) price [Solicited/Unsolicited any type of articles]:

  • Author copy (Cover page + Table of Contents + 4 copies of article): INR 500
  • Hard copy of whole issue: INR 1000

Fast-Track Review: 1000.00 (INR)
For a payment of extra INR 1,000, the review, editorial decision, and author notification on the manuscript is guaranteed to take place within 2 weeks.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work. Let us know the reason in the request for waiver form (step 5 of manuscript submission process).


If you are in step 5 of manuscript submission process,

Click on already paid or request waiver to complete the submission. (you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to pay article fees irrespective of the selection). Author whose fees is not waived should pay within 1 week of rejection of waiver request)
